Winter continued...

Since we now know how to build a snowman we started a new project building a 3D snowman. We started by painting our snowman white and adding the small shiny papers.

We then added the Snowman's orange carrot nose and arm branches made out of pipe cleaners, and colored on his two eyes.

Morah showed us how to make a snowman using paper and we got to work making our very own paper Snowman's.

Since we learned all about keeping ourselves warm in the Winter. Morahs worked with us to make Mittens. We keep our hands warm in the Winter we wear Mittens. We painted our hands and placed them inside the mittens.

We made 3 experiments:

Experiment # 1: Fake Snow
2 ingredients: baking soda and white hair conditioner

We mixed the ingrediants together and let it sit over night. The next day it made snow. It felt cold and squishy.

Experiment # 2: Ice

Supplies: water, ice trays, ices, freezer

We wanted to see what happens to water when it gets cold. We filled up 2 ice trays with water one stayed in the classroom (where it is warm) and the other we put in the freezer (where it is cold). We waited over night and saw what happened the next day.

We looked in the fridge to see if it is cold enough

We looked in the freezer and found a very cold ice pack so we knew it was very cold in the freezer

The next day Morah took 3 special helpers to get the ices and Ice trays from the freezer
We all got a turn to feel the water that turned to ice.

We saw the difference. The water that stayed in the classroom was still water the one from the freezer was ice.
Morah took the ice and poured it in a tray. We placed it on the side and waited to see what would happen. It melted and turned back into water.
As a snack we got to eat special ices that we put in the freezer with the ice trays.

Experiment #3: Fake snow from a bottle
Ingredients: Fake snow container and water

We used a container of fake snow and added water to it. We were very surprised as it grew bigger and bigger and turned into snow.

We had fun playing with it in groups at the tables.

Morahs put it in the sensory table so we can play with it during center time

To end off our Unit about Winter we had a Hot chocolate party with the other nursery class.
We read the book "One Snowy Day" and found that after building there snowman they raised there cups up high and said "Hello" to their new snowman friend.

Morah's help make the hot chocolate and we raised our cups up high and said "Hello" to our
snowman friend "Snowy"

We had a little Dance Party!

What a fun Party :)
