Butterflies

We have been learning all about the different stages of a butterfly.

We started by reading the book called, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and learned about the first stage the EGG that lays on a leaf in the moonlight. 

 We all got crayons and colored a leaf green then we took a white pom pom (egg) and glues it to the leaf.

 We read the book called, "The caterpillar" and learned about stage 2 the CATERPILLAR. 

 Morah showed us different colored Pom Poms and taught us a what a pattern is so we can use the Pom Poms to make our very own caterpillars.

 We learned about the 3rd stage the CACOON.

 We painted our Cacoons brown

We learned about the 4th stage the BUTTERFLY.

 We dot painted coffee filters and used clothes pins to make beautiful butterflies

As we were learning about the different stages of the butterflies. We got to see first hand as our real caterpillars changed through the stages.

Morah moved the cacoons to there new home

 Once our caterpillars were all changed to butterflies we were ready to let them fly free. 

 We had a lot of fun pretending to be the different stages of a butterfly.
