Tu B'Shvat
On Wednesday, February 4, we celebrated a very special holiday:
"Tu B'Shvat".
Tu B’Shvat is the Rosh Hashanah (New Year) for trees
and
plant life.
Tu B’Shvat marks the renewal of plant growth cycle in the Land of Israel. Tu B’Shvat is traditionally celebrated by eating a new fruit that one has not tasted for one year, as well as eating from the seven special fruits that grow in Israel
(pomegranate, date, fig, wheat, barley, olive, grape).
In school, each class prepared for the celebration for our
Tu B’Shvat Party in which we all gather for a communal fruit tasting party. We all got to taste from the seven special fruits of Israel as well as enjoy yummy cup cakes shaped like a tree.
We even watched a special video on Tu B'shvat.
